Providing Us with Your Own Art Work?

Here is a list & brief description of files we require in our Art Department. We can use both Vector (clip art) & Raster (picture).

Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
We would prefer this file type as it is most versatile with our programs. it is best if you have:

  1. all fonts converted to outlines.
  2. any images (.jpgs or .tifs) linked to that file, sent with the file separately.
  3. saved in version CS2 or lower.

Encapsulated Postscript (.eps)
Similar to an .ai file and follows the same specifications. Saved in .ai Version CS2 & lower.
Portable Document File (.pdf)
We can use this file type to extract images & text, however all text must be converted to outlines.
FlexiSign (.fs)
This file is great for vector based graphics; all text would need to be converted to outlines. Saved in .fs Version 7 & lower.
CorelDraw (.cdr)
This file is also great for vector based graphics & multiple page documents. All text would have to be converted to outlines & any images linked to this file would also have to be sent separately with the file. We required .cdr Version 12 & lower.
Microsoft Word (.doc *not .docx*, .rtf)
We would rather not have this file type as it would require us to extract images/text. We have to re-create this file layout in another program. It is acceptable for text only, however formatting & font types will vary.
Photoshop (.psd)
This file type is great for raster (picture) based graphics, we do not require any additional editing other than if elements on the image must be altered; we do require the layers to remain on the file in order to do this (ex: do not flatten the image, it will discard the layers and disable specific editing)
Raster Images
As for images, we would like either .jpegs or .tifs with a resolution of at least 150dpi (image size can be small; ex: 5inch by 8 inch), this way an image can be scaled easier without any fuzzy/blurry edges. If you cannot provide the suggested dpi, then 72dpi will work only if the image size itself is large (ex: 24inch by 36inch) and minimal scaling is required.
